Koh Samui has only 2 seasons, namely wet and dry. The best time to come is January – September. Mid October to mid December is considered our rainy season. However, weather patterns continue to change and we normally evaluate the situation on a daily basis.

Island life is so easy going. You can pretty much get away with shorts, t-shirts and flip flops anywhere you wish to go. However for our photographer’s tour, we advise that you wear a more decent attire as we will be visiting sacred sites. Ladies are required to have something that will cover their shoulders. For the picnic trip, a swimsuit is a good idea to have.

No entrance fees to pay for, in any of Island Gem Tours but it might be wise to pack a few things.

For the Island Gem Picnic, we advise you to bring:

  •  Towel
  •  Sunscreen
  •  Sunglasses
  •  Swimwear
  •  Hat
  •  Camera

For the drinks tasting tour, maybe some cash in case you wish to take home some rums or wines. And for the photography tour, bring with you your cameras, sunscreen and something to cover the shoulder for the ladies like a shawl.

It is important to know that tropical weather is very localized. Sometimes it rains in one area of the island but a few kilometers away, it is totally dry. We monitor the weather on a daily basis and if there is rain on the forecast, on the day of the tour, we consult with our boat captain if it is still good to go. Most of the time, the rain doesn’t stay the whole day and it is not cold. However, if the weather pattern has been raining almost the same time everyday, we will make the call in the morning on the trip. The rain issue only affects the picnic and photography tour. The drinks tour should still continue despite the rain.

We provide life jackets on board but we advise that you take caution if you can’t swim.

Absolutely! However, if you are 7 months pregnant, we do not advise that you go. Small children as young as 9 months have been on our trip and because it is a private tour, you have less or no worry at all about bringing young children on the boat. Our smallest life vest fits an 18 month old child. Adults are requested to supervise their children throughout the course of the trip.

The boat rides are only short. 15 minutes to the snorkeling point and another 15 minutes to the picnic site. However, if you feel more comfortable on a speedboat, you can upgrade at an extra cost.

Honeymoon picnic is a premium upgrade from the regular picnic set whereby we take out the white wines and replace them with a nice, cold bottle of Prosecco, which we have chilled in your champagne bucket and flute glasses. . We also add a personalized souvenir that you can take home with you.

Yes, of course. All you need to do is let us know in advance.

Our picnic and snorkeling destinations are Koh Tan and Koh Mudsum. These are islands closer to Koh Samui. The Marine Park and Koh Tao are located further and are more accessible by speedboats. These islands are also the main destination of tourism and can get really crowded.

It is a common practice on the island that a deposit or full payment is collected by the tour operator. This serves as a guarantee that the space you booked will not be taken by others.

We suggest to book a private tour as it gives you more room to customize the timing of the pick up and the drop off. The most popular is the picnic and snorkeling tour. But if you wish to see the island and its famous landmarks, then a private car with a driver and English speaking guide may suit you best. We have suggested itineraries on our shore excursion page.
